Install ExtraDock 5#

Requirements#

  • macOS 26 or later

ExtraDock 4 remains available for older versions of macOS. See the ExtraDock 4 installation guide if your Mac cannot run macOS 26.

Install the app#

  1. Download the ExtraDock 5 disk image from extradock.app.
  2. Open the disk image.
  3. Drag ExtraDock to Applications.
  4. Open ExtraDock from Applications.
  5. Complete onboarding, then activate your license when requested. ExtraDock 5 accepts your ExtraDock 4 license; see License.

First launch#

The Welcome to ExtraDock window appears when no docks exist yet and offers these starting points:

  • Import from ExtraDock 4 converts a compatible V4 configuration when one is found. The import reads the V4 data without changing it. See Migrate from ExtraDock 4.
  • Replace my Dock copies the apps, folders, and files pinned to the native macOS Dock, plus Trash, into a new dock named Main Dock. It does not hide the native Dock; see Replace the Native macOS Dock for that. It appears only when the native Dock has pinned items to copy.
  • Start Fresh creates Main Dock with Finder, Safari, Mail, and System Settings.
  • Live Dock creates a dock named Live Dock containing only the Live Dock widget, which mirrors Dock apps and running apps.

If Accessibility permission has not been granted, onboarding then explains what it is used for and offers Allow Accessibility Access and a Launch at login toggle; you can Skip for Now. Click Start Using ExtraDock to open the Manager. Closing the window early creates the Start Fresh dock.

Other capabilities ask for macOS permission only when you use them. See Permissions in ExtraDock 5.

Uninstall#

Quit ExtraDock, then move it from Applications to Trash. Removing the app does not automatically delete its local configuration and backups.
