Behavior#

The Manager's Behavior section contains settings that apply to the selected dock.

Auto-Hide#

Enable Hide automatically. A pinned dock reveals when the pointer is At screen edge or Near screen edge; the near option adds a Distance from edge control so you can reach the dock without pushing against the edge. A floating dock uses a reveal area around its location; turn off Use default reveal distance to set your own Reveal distance. Hide after (Fast, Standard, Slow, or custom up to 5 seconds) and Reveal after (Fast, Standard, Slow, or custom up to 2 seconds) control the timing. The section is not shown for Notch docks, which use the idle mode in Style.

Hide on Window Hover#

Enable Hide on Window Hover to fade the dock out when another app's window overlaps it. While the dock is faded, clicks reach the window beneath it. The dock returns after the area stays clear briefly. The setting is per dock and off by default. Turning it on turns off Reserve space for this dock, and turning that on turns Hide on Window Hover off again; other docks keep their own settings.

Reserve Dock Space#

Reserve space for this dock is on by default. It keeps normal application windows away from this pinned dock's screen edge once the app-wide Reserve Dock Space setting is also enabled in Settings → Behavior.

Clicking#

Clicking the active app chooses what happens when you click the icon of an application that is already frontmost: None (the default, matching the native Dock), Minimize, Hide, or Cycle Windows.

Notification Badges#

Show notification badges is off by default. When it is on, Show full number displays exact counts; turn it off to show counts above 99 as 99+. Per-App Rules lists this dock's pinned apps and running apps so you can switch badges off for individual apps; Reset All to Default turns them all back on. Badges for messaging apps can need Accessibility permission.

Shortcuts#

Turn on Toggle with keyboard shortcut and click Record Shortcut to record a global shortcut for showing or hiding the dock. Hide again after (Never, 15s, 30s, 1 min, or custom) hides the dock automatically after the shortcut revealed it. ExtraDock reports when macOS refuses to register a conflicting shortcut and keeps retrying. See Shortcuts and Gestures.

Running apps#

Whether a dock shows apps that currently own no windows is set in its Running Apps widget; the running indicator dots and icon spacing are set in its Live Dock widget. Excluded apps, the indicator color, and the attention style are set once for every dock in Settings → Behavior. See Live Dock and Running Apps.
