License#

Open Settings → License to activate ExtraDock 5 or review the current license state. There is no trial period; ExtraDock asks for a license key or team email the first time it needs one and shows Activation Required with Activate and Quit if it starts without a usable license.

License Status#

The Status row reports Active, Not Activated, Invalid, Wrong Device, or Server Error. A license with an end date also shows whether it has expired. Provider names the activation type: Keyper for a license key or Team for team access.

Activate#

Choose License Key or Team under Activation Method. Type or paste your license key into Enter license key, or your team email into Enter team email, then press Return or click Activate License or Validate Team Access. The Paste button next to the field fills it from the clipboard; copy the key from your purchase email first.

An internet connection is required for activation and occasional validation. If activation fails, ExtraDock names the reason, such as Invalid License, Team Access Not Found, Wrong Device, Device Limit Reached, or Server Error. Verify the key or team identity, confirm network access (disconnect a VPN temporarily if you use one), and include the exact message when contacting support. Device changes are handled through your account on the web rather than inside the app.

Coming from ExtraDock 4#

ExtraDock 5 uses the same license as ExtraDock 4. On first launch it re-validates a key found in your ExtraDock 4 settings on its own. If the key is stored only in your keychain, it asks Restore Your ExtraDock 4 License?; choose Continue and allow the keychain access, or Later to do it from the License page, where the key or team email is prefilled for you.

Update coverage#

With an active license, the Updates section shows your Coverage: Lifetime updates or Free updates until a date. Refresh License re-checks the license and its coverage with the server. Versions released after your included update period are skipped; when one is available, ExtraDock offers Renew Updates, Skip This Version, or Remind Me Later, and it reminds you 30 and 7 days before coverage ends. If you install a version that your license does not include, ExtraDock shows a recovery window with a link to download your newest included version, Retry License Check, and Change Key.

Remove the license#

Remove License clears the key from this Mac without deactivating its device registration; you will need to enter a key again to use ExtraDock. It is available for license keys, not team access.
