The ExtraDock 5 Manager#
The Manager is the main workspace for creating and editing docks.
Layout#
- The sidebar lists your docks. Each row shows the dock's name, its placement (for example Pinned · Bottom or Floating · Horizontal), and its item count. Drag rows to reorder docks. The eye button turns a dock on or off.
- Selecting a dock opens its editor. The dock's name is an editable field in the toolbar.
- The dock editor has Items, Style, Position, Screens, and Behavior sections.
- The buttons at the bottom of the sidebar open ExtraDock Settings, restore a backup, and create a new dock.
This layout is specific to ExtraDock 5. The two-tab Properties/Items window shown in the ExtraDock 4 manual does not describe this Manager.
Open the Manager#
Choose Open ExtraDock Manager from the menu bar menu, or Open in Manager from a dock's entry in that menu. The dock's own right-click menu offers Open Dock Settings. Show Manager on launch in Settings → General opens it automatically when ExtraDock starts.
Banners#
The editor shows a banner when something needs attention:
- Accessibility permission is off, with Enable Accessibility and Open System Settings.
- The dock is hidden at runtime by DockFlow, a Focus filter, a Shortcut, or the menu bar menu, with a Show Dock button. See Create and Manage Docks.
- Changes are not being saved, which usually means the disk is full or the ExtraDock5 folder in Application Support is not writable. ExtraDock keeps retrying automatically.
Changes are live#
The Manager edits the same configuration used by the visible docks. Changes normally appear immediately. A setting that affects macOS integration may instead show a permission or restart prompt.
