ExtraDock 5 Quick Start#
Create a dock#
- Open the ExtraDock Manager from the menu bar menu.
- Click the + button at the bottom of the sidebar, or Create Dock if you have no docks yet.
- Name the dock in the toolbar field.
The new dock appears floating in the center of the screen.
Add content#
Open the dock's Items section and use Add to Dock to pick applications, files, folders, or widgets, or to recreate your macOS Dock with Native Dock Copy. You can also right-click the dock, choose Edit Dock, and drag items from Finder onto it. See Dock Edit Mode.
Arrange and customize#
- Reorder content in Items, or on the dock while it is in Edit Mode.
- Choose Dock or Notch layout, orientation, size, spacing, background, border, effects, and magnification in Style.
- Choose pinned or floating placement in Position.
- Choose which displays can show the dock in Screens.
- Configure auto-hide, click behavior, badges, and a dock shortcut in Behavior.
Add a widget#
Open Items, choose Add to Dock → Widgets, and click a widget in the searchable library. Select the widget's settings control in the Items list to configure that particular instance.
Good first experiments include Clock, Shelf, Running Apps, CPU Usage, and Folder Stack. See Widgets in ExtraDock 5.
