Style#

The Manager's Style section controls the selected dock's visual layout. Preset controls offer a Custom choice that reveals an exact slider.

Layout#

Choose between Dock and Notch. Notch turns the dock into a black shape welded to a screen edge that folds to a small pill; it has its own positioning and idle behavior, and Style then shows only the Notch and Size & Spacing sections. See Notch Layout.

Bar#

  • Orientation — Horizontal or Vertical for a floating dock. A pinned dock follows its screen edge; change the edge in Position.
  • Collapse bar — Turn on collapse for this dock. The Collapse settings section then appears; see Auto-Hide and Collapse.

Size & Spacing#

  • Icon size — Small (32 pt), Medium (48 pt), Large (64 pt), or a custom value from 20 to 128 pt.
  • Bar thickness — Auto fits the icon size or the tallest item; Thin, Standard, Thick, or a custom value from 24 to 200 pt sets a fixed thickness. Widgets may occupy more than one cell.
  • Space between icons — Tight, Default, Roomy, or Spacious.
  • Under Advanced: Corner radius (Default, Soft, or Round) and Bar side padding, the inset between the icons and the bar edge.

Background#

Choose a background Style for Dock layout:

  • Liquid Glass (the default) draws the dock with the same glass as the macOS Dock. Turn on Dark glass for a darker surface, and add an optional Tint color. Glass draws its own edge, so the blur intensity, solid color, and opacity controls are hidden while it is selected.
  • Blur uses a system material with an Intensity from Lightest to Darkest and an Opacity of Subtle, Medium, Solid, or Opaque.
  • Solid uses a Color you choose, with the same opacity choices.
  • None shows the icons with no bar surface.

Enable Always use opaque dock backgrounds in Settings → General if you want every glass, blur, or translucent dock rendered as a solid color.

Border#

Show border is off by default. When it is on, choose a Width (Hairline, Thin, Medium, Thick, or custom) and a Color.

Effects#

Turn on Snow, Rays, or Fireworks overlays, alone or together. An Intensity control (Subtle, Standard, Bold, or custom) appears while any effect is on. Effects are not available in Notch layout.

Hover Magnification#

Magnify icons on hover is on by default. Adjust Max scale (1× to 4×) and Falloff radius, which controls how far the enlargement spreads to neighboring icons.

Themes#

A theme stores a dock's Style settings so you can reuse them:

  • Apply existing theme lists the themes you have saved.
  • Save current style as theme saves this dock's style under a name.
  • Import Theme reads a .extradock5theme file.
  • Manage themes lets you Update from This Dock, Rename, Export, or Delete a theme.

ExtraDock ships without built-in themes. A theme changes presentation only; it does not replace the dock's layout, identity, or items.
