General Settings#

Open Settings → General.

Startup#

  • Launch at login starts ExtraDock when you log in. macOS may ask you to approve the login item; the setting then offers Open Login Items Settings.
  • Show Manager on launch opens the management window when ExtraDock starts, including at login. It is off by default.
  • Show ExtraDock as chooses how ExtraDock appears as an application: Menu bar only (the default), Dock app only, or Menu bar + Dock icon. With Dock app only, the menu bar icon and its menu are not available; use the Manager and Settings windows instead.

Native Dock#

Use Deep-hide native macOS Dock to suppress the native Dock while ExtraDock is active. It is off by default. After you change it, ExtraDock asks Restart ExtraDock to finish repositioning?; choose Restart Now or Later. macOS can still reveal its Dock when the pointer reaches the physical screen edge or in Mission Control, so the setting also offers Open Desktop & Dock Settings if you want to move the native Dock to an edge ExtraDock does not use. Suppression also makes bottom Notch placement available. If ExtraDock cannot apply the change, it shows Retry Dock Setting. See Replace the Native macOS Dock before enabling it.

Updates#

ExtraDock 5 keeps update preferences in General rather than a separate Updates page. The section shows the Current version, a Check for updates automatically toggle, an Update channel picker with Stable (the default) and Beta, and a Check for Updates button. Beta builds arrive earlier and may be less stable. The menu bar menu also offers Check for Updates.

Updates are limited to versions released during your license's update coverage. See License.

Appearance#

Enable Always use opaque dock backgrounds to render glass, blur, and translucent dock surfaces as solid colors. ExtraDock also makes them opaque while macOS Reduce Transparency is enabled.

Privacy#

Use Send error reports to allow or stop anonymous error reporting. It is enabled by default and the reports contain no personal data.
