Replace the Native macOS Dock#

ExtraDock 5 can run beside the native Dock or suppress it while ExtraDock is active.

Open Settings → General and enable Deep-hide native macOS Dock. ExtraDock saves the native Dock's current settings, applies a deep auto-hide, and asks to restart so the change is applied consistently. macOS may still reveal its Dock when the pointer reaches the physical screen edge or in Mission Control; ExtraDock cannot fully disable the system Dock. For fewer accidental reveals, move the macOS Dock to an edge you do not use for ExtraDock with Open Desktop & Dock Settings.

Before replacing the native Dock#

  • Add the applications and running-app surfaces you rely on. Native Dock Copy in the dock's Items section recreates your macOS Dock in one step, and the Live Dock widget keeps its apps in sync. See Live Dock and Running Apps.
  • Confirm that the dock remains reachable with your auto-hide settings.
  • Test window actions and notification badges.
  • Keep a way to reopen the Manager and Settings.

The native Dock state influences some edge layouts. In particular, bottom Notch placement is unavailable while the native Dock is active.

Turn suppression off to restore the native Dock settings ExtraDock saved.
