Position#

Open a dock's Position section in the Manager and choose a Position mode: Pinned to Edge or Floating. New docks start floating; switching to pinned places the dock at the bottom center.

Pinned to Edge#

Screen position offers twelve spots: three along each edge. The spot chooses the edge and the alignment along it. Then adjust:

  • Full width stretches the dock across the whole edge; the chosen spot then controls how the content is aligned inside the bar.
  • Gap from screen edge — Flush, Small (the default for new docks), Medium, Large, or a custom value up to 64 pt.

Open Advanced for finer placement. Offset along edge moves the dock along its edge; positive values move it inward from a corner. It is hidden while Full width is on. The Top, Right, Bottom, and Left padding values keep the dock away from the pinned edge and its two ends. The value for the opposite edge is saved and applies if you later pin the dock there.

Floating#

Floating docks can sit away from an edge. Drag the dock by its handle, which appears when you hover over it, or turn on Show drag handle to keep it visible. Drag handle side places the handle automatically or at the Screen edge, Inward, or a specific end of the dock. Floating docks snap to screen edges and centers unless magnetic snapping is off in Settings → Behavior.

Lock Position in the dock's right-click menu or its menu bar submenu prevents dragging. The drag handle and the collapse control are separate features.

Notch position#

A dock in Notch layout is always pinned. Instead of the pinned controls, Position shows a Notch Position picker with the same twelve spots. A dot marks a spot another notch dock already uses. The bottom spots require Deep-hide native macOS Dock in Settings → General. See Notch Layout.

Desktop widget mode#

Turn on Desktop widget mode to keep the dock above the wallpaper but below every window, so it behaves like part of the desktop. It is off by default.

Per-screen positions#

A dock can have screen-specific placement. The general Position editor changes the dock's position for all screens and clears conflicting per-screen position overrides. Use Screens and on-screen dragging when you need a placement specific to one display.
