Folder Stack and App Stack#
ExtraDock 5 provides two different folder-oriented widgets. Both open a setup panel when you add them and suppress the generic widget context menu on the dock; open their settings from the Items list.
Folder Stack#
Folder Stack collects one or more source folders behind one dock icon. Its popover shows one entry for each configured folder. Select an entry to open that folder. It does not list the files inside the folder.
Choose the Folders, a List or Grid layout, a Custom name and whether to Always show name, an Icon tint or custom icon, and an optional application to open folders with. The folders remain in their original locations. Clicking the widget before any folder is chosen opens its settings.
App Stack#
App Stack puts a hand-picked list of apps, files, and folders behind one dock item. Add and arrange the items in the widget's Items setting, or drop files onto the stack in the dock, even while the dock is locked. Configure the Stack name, Color, Grid density, Grid size, Icon style (Icon view or Folder view), Show name, and a custom icon.
Older App Stack configurations can use a single folder instead of a curated list. In that mode, configure the Folder and the On click action.
macOS may request access to a selected folder. If a folder is moved or becomes unavailable, choose it again in the widget settings.
