Trash Widget#

The Trash widget adds trash functionality to any dock.

It can use ExtraDock's own virtual trash or the native macOS Trash.

Modes#

The Use Native macOS Trash switch chooses the mode:

  • ExtraDock Trash — A virtual trash managed by ExtraDock (default, switch off)
  • Native Trash — Uses the system macOS Trash (switch on)

ExtraDock Trash#

Drag files onto the widget to move them into ExtraDock Trash. Click the widget to browse trashed items, where you can Restore or Delete Permanently each one.

Native Trash#

Native Trash works with the system Trash. Clicking the widget opens the Trash in Finder. macOS may ask for Finder Automation and file permissions depending on where the files come from, and Full Disk Access is recommended for protected locations and external volumes.

Settings#

You can configure:

  • Show Count Badge — Show the item count
  • Badge Color — Change the badge color
  • Icon Style — Auto (based on count), Full Trash, or Empty Trash
  • Confirm Empty Trash — Ask before emptying trash
  • Confirm Protected Files — Ask before removing protected items

Right-click the widget for Empty Trash, Open Trash in Finder or Open ExtraDock Trash Browser, and Refresh Count.
