Menu Bar#

ExtraDock adds a tray icon to the macOS menu bar for quick access to your docks and common actions.

The menu bar icon appears when the app mode includes "Menu Bar" (see General Settings).

Opening the menu#

Click the ExtraDock icon in the menu bar to open the tray menu.

Available actions#

  • Show App — Open the management window (⌘⇧M)
  • Reposition Docks — Recalculate dock positions after a display change
  • Check for Updates — Look for a new version
  • Quit ExtraDock — Exit the app (⌘Q)

When the license needs attention, the top of the menu shows Activate License or a link to License settings. A valid temporary license shows its remaining time there instead.

Settings is not in this menu; open it from the Settings button in the management window.

Per-dock controls#

Each dock is listed by name. Click a dock to expand its submenu.

  • Show Dock or Hide Dock — Toggle dock visibility
  • Edit Dock or Done Editing — Enter or leave Edit Mode (see Rearranging & Removing)
  • Position Mode — Choose a floating orientation or a fixed screen edge; a Notch dock offers each edge's notch positions instead
  • Lock Position — Prevent a floating dock from moving
  • Size — Choose Default (the macOS Dock size), Small (50 px), Medium (75 px), or Large (100 px)
  • Open Dock Settings — Open the selected dock in the management window

Use the management window for appearance, behavior, screen assignment, renaming, duplication, and removal.
