Auto-Hide#
Auto-hide makes a dock disappear when you're not using it and reappear when you move your mouse to its location.
Enabling auto-hide#
Open the management window, select the dock, then go to Properties → Behavior → Auto-hide.
Each dock has its own auto-hide setting — some docks can auto-hide while others stay visible.
Delay#
Control how long the dock waits before hiding after your mouse leaves:
- Instant — 0.2 seconds
- Quick — 0.5 seconds
- Normal — 1.0 second (default)
- Custom — Slide to any value between 0.1 and 5 seconds
Use the presets or the custom slider in the management window.
Reveal delay#
Reveal Delay controls how long the pointer must stay at the dock's screen edge before a hidden dock appears. Choose Instant, Careful, Hold, or set a custom delay.
Hide on Window Hover#
Hide on Window Hover, also under Behavior, fades the dock out only while another app's window overlaps it and brings it back once the area is clear. It is off by default and is set per dock. Docks using it are excluded from Reserve Dock Space.
How it works#
- Your mouse leaves the dock area
- The hide timer starts (based on your delay setting)
- If you move back to the dock before the timer ends, the timer cancels
- If the timer completes, the dock slides off screen
- Move your mouse to where the dock was and it slides back
