App Actions#
Right-click any item in a dock to see its context menu with available actions.
Application actions#
When the app is running, the menu starts with a list of its open windows; choose one to bring it forward. The menu then offers:
- Open — Launch or activate the application
- Reveal in Finder — Show the app in Finder
- Hide — Hide the application's windows (running apps only)
- Quit — Quit the application gracefully (running apps only; force quits if it doesn't respond)
Browser profiles#
For Chrome, Chrome Beta, Dev, and Canary, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi, and Chromium, the menu includes New Window with Profile. It lists the browser's profiles by name and signed-in account; choose one to open a new window in that profile. Guest and temporary profiles are not listed.
Folder actions#
- Open — Open the folder in Finder
- Open in New Window — Open in a new Finder window
- Reveal in Finder — Select the folder in its parent directory
If you chose another app in Open folders with, folder clicks use that app instead of Finder.
Icon actions#
Every item also has these actions:
- Change Icon — Replace the icon with a custom one (see Custom Icons)
- Revert to Original Icon — Restore the default icon (only shown if a custom icon is set)
- Remove from Dock — Remove the item from this dock
Dock actions#
The menu also offers Edit Dock, or Done Editing while the dock is being edited. See Rearranging & Removing.
Item settings#
Use the gear icon in the Dock Items tab to change item-specific options such as display name, folder click behavior, folder tint, folder hover label, or file extension visibility.
Widget actions#
Right-click a widget for Widget Settings, any actions the widget provides, Edit Dock, and Remove Widget. Some widgets, such as Trash, Shelf, URL, and Finder, show their own menu instead. See Widgets.
