General Settings#

Startup, app mode, and native Dock options.

Open Settings (⚙) → General to access these settings. Settings opens from the Settings button at the bottom of the management window's sidebar.

Upgrade to ExtraDock 5#

On macOS 26, the top of the page offers Upgrade to ExtraDock 5. The upgrade is free with your existing license key and imports your docks and settings. Click Download to get ExtraDock 5; see the ExtraDock 5 documentation.

Launch at startup#

Toggle Launch at startup to automatically start ExtraDock when you log in to your Mac. It is off by default.

Requires macOS 13 or later.

App Mode#

Choose how ExtraDock appears in your system:

  • Menu Bar Only — ExtraDock lives in the menu bar with no Dock icon (default)
  • Dock App Only — ExtraDock appears as a regular app in the macOS Dock
  • Menu Bar + Dock Icon — Both

Hide native macOS Dock#

Toggle Hide native macOS Dock to suppress the built-in Apple Dock while ExtraDock is running. ExtraDock restarts the Dock process and applies a deep auto-hide setting to it, saving your previous Dock settings first. Turn this off anytime to restore your previous Dock behavior.

Show management window on launch#

Toggle Show management window on launch to automatically open the management window every time ExtraDock starts. It is on by default; you can disable it once your docks are configured.

Behavior settings#

Click behavior, folder opening, snapping, and Reserve Dock Space live in Settings (⚙) → Behavior.

See Behavior Settings.
